Planning, Managing, and Controlling a Personal Property Inventory: What You'll Actually Learn

In this course, you’ll learn how to run an inventory like a project manager, with a clear plan, defined scope, realistic timelines, and measurable results.

Start with the rules, roles, and real-world realities

You’ll begin with a practical overview of federal personal property management: the laws and regulations that shape how property is acquired, controlled, and disposed of, and how accountability is maintained across the property life cycle. You’ll also clarify who does what, from Property Management Officers and Accountable Property Officers to Property Custodians and inventory team members, and how control expectations differ for expendable, accountable, sensitive, and capitalized property.

Then build an inventory plan you can actually execute

Next, the course treats the inventory as a project with a start and end point, specific deliverables, and stakeholders who need clear communication. You’ll learn how to:
