Graduate School Honors Instructor Excellence Thirteen Receive Annual Recognition Award
WASHINGTON, February 22, 2011--- The Graduate School awarded thirteen instructors with the School’s highest honors for its 29th annual Instructor Excellence Program. Honorees were nominated by Graduate School employees for their outstanding commitment to teaching excellence. The winning instructors represent both the daytime and the evening programs and have an average length of service with the school of 12 years. They teach a variety of courses including contracting, financial management, and Arabic – from D.C. to Chicago to the Pacific and Virgin Islands.
“Every one of these 13 instructors were recognized by their students for their deep expertise in the field and their ability to clearly bring that knowledge to the classroom,” said Dr. Jerry Ice, CEO and President, Graduate School. “Having passionate people lead our courses is one of the things that has helped to create the School’s 90 year heritage of excellence.”
The honorees included: Joseph Breault, Frank Crawford, Felix Garza, Geraldine Keenan, Marianne Koster, Sebastian Lorigo, Ronald Maccaroni, Daryle Parks, Carl Pavetto, Gordon Rollins, Stefan Sanders, Michael Snider, and Kamal Tabine.
In order to be nominated, an Instructor must have served the Graduate School a minimum of three full years, have conducted a minimum of two courses per year and must have a minimum of a 4.5 out of a 5.0 rating during the prior year. The rating factors are: instructional delivery, service above and beyond, and the impact of the instructor’s courses on the Graduate School.
