Graduate School and Capitol College
The Graduate School and Capitol College have come together to offer professionals and specialists a certificate in Security Management. In it participants learn to prepare for, respond to and recover from threats to information infrastructure. The six online courses are taught by some of the nation's leading experts in the field of network and information security.
Each eight-week course consists of a weekly two-hour, real-time session, supplemented by two-hour practice sessions. During the live class-time sessions, participants simply get online and log in to listen to the instructor over streaming audio, while participating with other students. The course may be completed from home or office, individually or with a group. The total class time is only four hours per week, so you participate without a major disruption to your work or home life. Textbooks must be purchased separately.
After completing the Security Management (Online) certificate, participants know how to detect network intrusions, how to respond, and how to prevent future breaches. The range of topics ensures that participants will manage a system that is secure while considering the ethical and legal issues concerning privacy and informational and intellectual property. This certificate is ideal for the IT professional or manager who needs to better understand the demands and challenges of secure networks or how to manage them.
Credits Apply to the Master of Science in Network Security
Graduate School students may take any four of the six courses and receive a Certificate in Security Management (Online) from the Graduate School. Participants may also apply up to three of the completed courses toward the Master of Science in Network Security at Capitol College.
