Learning Outcome Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to interact in a variety of everyday situations while further gaining a stronger background in Russian vocabulary, grammar and culture.
Instruction Major topics covered in the course include a review of genitive plural modifiers and nouns; adjectives following numbers; accusative plural of animate nouns and their modifiers; prefixed verbs of motion; making comparisons; reflexive verbs; нравиться/понравиться
vs. любить;
conjugation of давать/дать;
который;
negative constructions; constructions with ни...не; звать
vs. назвываться;
нужен and мненадо
vs. я должен/должна.
Vocabulary topics will include making hotel and travel arrangements; dealing with common travel problems; talking about movies and television; expressing likes and dislikes; agreeing and disagreeing; reading television and movie schedules; books, authors, genres; borrowing books; getting a library card and famous Russian poems.
Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, classroom exercises, presentations, tests, and final examination.
