Syllabus, Graduate School, USDA Objective
To provide students with increased practice in reading, writing and speaking Russian at an intermediate level.

Learning Outcome
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to interact in a variety of everyday situations while further gaining a stronger background in Russian vocabulary, grammar and culture.

Instruction
Major topics covered in the course include a review of genitive plural modifiers and nouns; adjectives following numbers; accusative plural of animate nouns and their modifiers; prefixed verbs of motion; making comparisons; reflexive verbs; нравиться/понравиться vs. любить; conjugation of давать/дать; который; negative constructions; constructions with ни...не; звать vs. назвываться; нужен and мне надо vs. я должен/должна.

Vocabulary topics will include making hotel and travel arrangements; dealing with common travel problems; talking about movies and television; expressing likes and dislikes; agreeing and disagreeing; reading television and movie schedules; books, authors, genres; borrowing books; getting a library card and famous Russian poems.

Methods of instruction include lecture, discussion, classroom exercises, presentations, tests, and final examination.
